CactiEZ 0.7 Released Today, the long awaited release of CactiEZ v0.7 is out. While the release took much longer than anticipated (I reworked it several times) I believe the final product turned out better because of it.
Download Cacti. The latest stable version is 1.1.38, released 04/15/18. Please use the install guide for either Unix or Windows for information about installing.
There are several key things to note about the new CD. It is currently available for download via torrent. EDIT: I have now added a HTTP download link. I would like to thank all the beta testers that have helped with this project. I had 500+ beta requests so congrats to those who were selected and got an early peak at it. For the 1000 other people that asked me why it took so long. Please realize that every minor change that occurred would require testing that consisted of rebuilding the RPMs (if necessary), recompiling the CD, transferring the CD, re-installing from CD, and then actually starting the testing after all that was done.
All I can say is thanks to VMWare ESXi and a lot of custom scripting, I was able to stream line the process. For anyone that appreciates the hard work that goes into a project like this, I have provided a Donations link on the CactiEZ page.
For support / questions, please use this thread over at cacti.net – Update: I would like to thank everyone that has made a donation no matter how small. I shall drink a pint in your honor while I decide what to put in the next CactiEZ (snmp traps maybe?) Posted in.
• Launch the Windows Hyper-V Manager (Start, All Programs, Administrative Tools, Hyper-V Manager). • Select New, Virtual Machine.
Give it a name. • Specify memory (RAM). In this example I'm using 1024 MB. • On the ' Configure Networking' screen just click Next - we will delete this later anyway.
• Create a new virtual hard disk using the name, location and size of your choosing. I created a 10GB virtual HD which should be more than enough for CactiEZ. • On the 'Installation Options' screen make sure to choose ' Install and operating system later.' • Click Next, uncheck 'Start the virtual machine after it is created' and verify your settings, then click Finish. Now that your server is installed logon through the Virtual Machine Connection window. The default username and password are root, CactiEZ. Once logged on the first thing I did was set a static IP address using: netconfigWith the IP address and related settings set appropriately restart the network using: service network restartYou may also want to synchronize your time using: ntpdate -u 0.pool.ntp.orgAnd set your timezone with: yum install system-config-date system-config-dateSee more CactiEZ tips and hints.
